Be the best you can be: challenging the Gifted and Talented.
"Hide not your talents. They for use were made. What's a sundial in the shade?" – Benjamin Franklin
At Orleans Park we are very proud of the range of abilities and achievements of all of our students. Our pupils are keen to succeed and make very good progress. The Gifted and Talented programme at Orleans Park is inclusive and includes pupils with a range of different gifts, talents and learning abilities.
Staff at Orleans Park are committed to creating and nurturing the individual talents of each pupil and the provision in class and the vast array of extra-curricular activities reflects this. The commitment to excellence in teaching and learning and the focus on motivating, challenging and stretching pupils to achieve their potential is a key driving force behind raising the level of attainment for all pupils.
As well as a core register, where students are identified as having the potential to thrive in or exceed the expectations of their peers in several areas, each department keeps, evaluates and updates a subject-specific register and regularly audits progress and provision for their pupils. Staff regularly meet to share strategies on enhancing students’ learning.
Identification of pupils is based on a range of criteria, and as well as considering a pupil’s aptitude for a particular subject through assessment and analysis of data, a range of other methods are used; for instance identification of specialist skills such as reasoning, questioning, performing, creating, or demonstration of a particular interest or passion for a field of study or activity.
If you have any questions about Gifted and Talented please do contact either of us via the school’s email.
