New Breakfast Service from 20 February 2012
School catering and what is offered to pupils in school dining rooms has been in the news recently. We would like to highlight what we are doing at Orleans Park School to help guide the children towards eating a healthier diet.
We have reviewed the cooking processes. We no longer add any salt to our dishes and we have reduced the fat and sugar content in many of our recipes. We also do not deep fry any food at all – in fact all the deep fryers have been removed.

In line with our healthy eating policy and alongside traditional sandwiches, we offer baguettes boxed salads, cold pasta pots, fruit pots and low fat desserts. We also offer a good range of hot snack items. Also available are hot noodle and rice dishes, jacket potatoes and a good selection of salads. We offer a main meal Meal Deal at £2.25 which includes a dessert or fruit. This price was fixed to enable children who receive a free school lunch a more varied choice
Obviously we all like home baked cakes and cookies and we offer a good variety. We try to keep the majority of these cereal and fruit based where possible and have lowered the sugar levels in many of our recipes.
We offer a range of drinks including milkshakes, fruit juice and mineral water. We also have two chilled water fountains installed in the dining area and the children have free access to this water.
There is a breakfast service which runs from 8.10 to 8.35 daily Click here for the menu.
Richmond upon Thames award food hygiene ratings from 0 to 5 for all food businesses in the local area. This is a national incentive through the Food Standards Agency and was previously known as the Scores on the Doors and we are very proud to say that our school canteen were awarded the highest score of 5 for the second time in April 2012 which is an excellent rating for "very high standards of food safety management, fully compliant with food safety legislation". All scores can be viewed on www.food.gov.uk/scores
